Gilbert’s Training Day
Gilberts (Blackpool) Ltd. hosted this grilles and diffusers event at its headquarters in Blackpool for clients of Keane Environmental. The delegation consisted of consulting engineers from PM Group, Metec, Arup and Varming.
The one-day seminar covered best selection practice training, smoke test demonstrations, nomogram use, updates on product technology, and a factory tour.
“The day started with a guided tour of the manufacturing facility with a step by step tour of the production line from start to finish. The main part of the day was spent in the R&D facility where the delegation was introduced to Gilberts R&D testing procedures and methods. Then the delegation was shown real time examples of air distribution patterns and effects using smoke tests. A number of real world scenarios were also examined such as the effect of no ceiling, the effect of over and undersizing grilles and the coanda effect. Overall the testing gave “an excellent insight into air movement and distribution patterns,” explained Ryan Caldwell, one of Keane’s mechanical engineers.
“The aim was to give delegates a better understanding of considerations in their selection and specification process, and keep them ‘up to speed’ on leading edge design & technology,” explained Gilberts’ Technical Director Roy Jones. “Gilberts is the only British manufacturer to have, in-house, the technical and computational capability, and a state-of-the-art test centre, to give truly comprehensive training in air movement. As such we are uniquely positioned to provide tailored, bespoke training for engineers and designers, so they are best equipped to do their job.”
Adds Ian Rogers, Gilberts Sales Director, “This was the first of many such days we intend to facilitate, to give the industry the support tools and background knowledge with which to deliver effective, efficient air movement.”
Gilberts is rapidly becoming the UK’s premier independent air movement expert, with investment in leading technology, facilities and people. The company is introducing a raft of new products and refinements, including the latest, the Mistrale Fusion energy-efficient ventilation system. Its R&D team conducts and completes lifetime testing, and also develops on-going product testing. Last year Gilberts designed, built and opened a dedicated air distribution test laboratory, the only one of its kind available in-house in the UK. It is also strengthening its technical and sales expertise, balancing the growth with the values of still being family-owned and run.
Keane Environmental would like to thank Gilberts for organising this comprehensive training day, and also the delegation of consulting engineers who kindly accepted the invitation and participated. If you want to participate in the next training day at Gilberts, don’t hesitate to contact us.
