Tropical Fruit Warehouse

The Tropical Fruit Warehouse
Redeveloped

The redevelopment of The Tropical Fruit Warehouse led by Henry J Lyons architects, has transformed the historic site into an award winning building. Combining the restored 1890s warehouse—a Protected Structure—with a lightweight overhead extension and a new seven-story office building. The project involved the preservation and restoration of the warehouse’s historical features, such as the original Scots Pine timber trusses, brick facades, and slate roofing, and the integration of remnants from the Hibernian Marine School discovered during the restoration.

This LEED Platinum certified building has now been leased by a global technology company and has undergone further renovations under the direction of Ethos Consulting Engineers and DMG Engineering. The energy efficient Cat B fit out has now been completed, with Keane Environmental, supplying Diffusion fancoils, Gilberts grilles, Kampmann trench units and Pettinaroli PICVs. The redevelopment now not only preserves the historical integrity of the warehouse but also revitalizes the space to meet contemporary needs.

Diffusion’s Energy Saving Fancoils, lead the market with low SFPs

We are delighted to be involved in this redevelopment of this landmark building and have recently delivered Diffusion Energy Saving 270 Fancoils, which offer industry leading Specific Fan Powers (SFPs). Ensuring optimal comfort for the occupants and significantly reducing the building’s environmental impact.

Gilberts Grilles, cutting edge design and comfort

Throughout the building there are several ceiling typs (exposed, suspended, acoustical) each have their own unique challenges for HVAC design. Gilberts R&D department understand that, they have developed and validated solutions for every occassion in their state of the art testing facilities. We were delighted to supply over 500 grilles to the Tropical Fruit Warehouse, both GSL linear slot diffusers for suspended ceilings and GSFE swirl diffusers with coanda plates for the areas with exposed services.

Kampmann, state of the art trench heating and cooling units

Kampmann trench systems were chosen for areas with double-height glazing to ensure optimal performance during winter months. These systems offer effective solutions for primary heating and cooling, supplementary heating, and cold air screening under large glazed surfaces. Additionally, they enhance overall comfort and energy efficiency in spaces with extensive glazing.

The benefits of Kampmann trench systems include their ability to maintain a comfortable indoor climate in challenging architectural spaces, particularly those with significant glass surfaces. Their versatility in providing both heating and cooling, along with effective air distribution, makes them an ideal choice for modern building designs such as The Tropical Fruit Warehouse where large windows and open spaces are prevalent.

Pettinaroli Vortex PICV Assembly

Pettinaroli’s adaptable range of PICV assemblies for fan coils provides substantial advantages over conventional products for consultants, contractors, commissioning engineers, and building operators or owners.

This modular valve assembly is designed to address the flushing, flow balancing, isolation, and temperature control needs of each terminal unit effectively.  PICVs work hand in hand with other energy saving products such as modulating pumps, to achieve maximum energy efficiency for the building.

Pettinaroli’s pre-assembled valve packages deliver all the necessary components for a successful connection in a single, convenient package.

Features:

  • Designed for direct connection to Fan Coil Units
  • Engineered for Optimal Performance in Challenging Water Systems
