The Kerry Group
The Kerry Group is a public food company headquartered in Ireland. The company was first established in Tralee, Co. Kerry in 1972. Currently, the Group employs approximately 24,000 people in its manufacturing, sales, and technical centres worldwide, and supplies over 15,000 food, food ingredients, and flavour products to customers in more than 140 countries worldwide.
To handle the demand of their global business, the Kerry Group began construction on their Global Technology & Innovation Centre in Co. Kildare in 2013. The project, which was completed in 2015, created 900 jobs over a three year period and featured a €100 million euro investment by Kerry Group. It was directed by engineering firm Arup and resulted in a cutting-edge technology centre that comprises 25000m2 of accommodation, including 5000m2 of pilot plant production facilities, 8500m2 of laboratories, and a 3500m2 customer experience building.
To help in achieving this, Arup used Keane Environmental’s high quality Diffusion Fan Coils and Kampmann Trench Heating products so as to ensure that the building met the high standards of the Kerry Group. The Kampmann Trench Heating products proved highly effective in offsetting the heat loss found through the large glazed areas thereby preventing downdrafts and providing a high level of comfort throughout the building. The Diffusion Fan Coils, which are known for their low noise and low specific fan power (SFP), were used to effectively control the temperature in each individual area of the building. It was this high standard of design, materials, and construction that led to the building winning Engineering Project of the Year 2015 at the sixth annual Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards.
