An Garda Síochána Headquarters in Phoenix Park is one of Ireland’s most famous public buildings, built in 1842 for the new Constabulary, and first occupied by the new An Garda Síochána in 1923.
Aligned to the OPW’s commitment to investing in sustainable solutions and upgrading heating systems in public buildings, An Garda Síochána was the first police service in the world to achieve the globally recognised International Energy Management Standard (ISO 50001) and has been reducing its carbon footprint the over last number of years. Last year the Garda Siochana announced their Climate Action Roadmap embracing sustainability, resilience, and innovation to safeguarding our environment. With this roadmap, they commit to reducing their carbon footprint through a variety of projects including the ambition to install heatpumps organisation wide, including the installation by the OPW of an energy efficient Enerblue Black Heatpump at the Garda Headquaters.
